Rules help us define groups of employee. We can define rules in the following way:
Enabled for Everyone: If this is the selected option, the module is enabled for everyone. This is the default behaviour.
Include Specific Users: The module can be enabled for specific employees.
Exclude Specific Users: The module can be disabled for specific employees.
If you want to enable the module only for a small subset of the users and disable for all the other employees - Choose 'Include Specific Users.'
If you want to enable the module for for all employees, but disable for a specific set - Choose 'Exclude specific users.'
Click on Include by user attributes. You can select employees based on multiple properties.
If you have selected multiple properties, employees that satisfy all the criteria would be allowed. For example in the image below, employees for whom the Department is Technology or Product; and who are in the Mumbai location would be selected. Click on 'add' once you have defined the criteria to add the segment.
You can choose to add more such employee segments to the included sets by clicking on 'Include another segment'. Employees will get access to the module if they belong to either of the segments. In case the employees do not belong to any specific segment, you can also choose to include them directly by their name.
If only a subset of employees need to be excluded from having access to the module, please use the exclusion criteria below:
The method of selecting a segment of employees is similar as above. These employees will not have access to the module.
With these rules, if the properties of an employee changes in the system e.g. they move to a different location or into a different team; the access permission to the module would be automatically re-evaluated according to the new properties of the employee.
