Navigate to Settings on PeopleCues
Click on Permissions in the left pane
Click on the 'HRBP' block on the right side of the screen
Click on 'Add User' on the right side of the screen
Type in the name of the employee you want to assign the role of an HRBP
Having added a user as HRBP, click on View 'Org Hierarchy' in the 'Assigned To' column
In the Org Hierarchy page, navigate to any Manager to assign an HRBP to them (our recommendation is to follow a top-down approach during assignment. Why?)
Click on '+Add HRBP' to assign an HRBP to this manager
Choose the designated HRBP(s) for this manager from the list, and click on 'Done'
HRBP(s) have now been assigned to this manager
An upstream HRBP is similar to a skip-level HRBP, i.e. they are assigned as HRBP to a senior leader, and don't need to be directly tagged to manager(s) under the senior leader, and they can still have visibility of all the managers under the senior leader.
In the example below, Hamza is an L1 leader with Sashi as his HRBP. Brittany, an L2 under Hamza, has a dedicated HRBP for her team, Aditya. When we assign Aditya as HRBP to Brittany, we get to see that Sashi is selected by default and cannot be unchecked. This is because he is an Upstream HRBP and will by default have visibility into Brittany's org since she reports to Hamza.
Generally, at a founder level, the HRBP is a very Senior HR professional who should have access to the reports and insights for the entire organisation. Correspondingly, these HR professionals have the Engagement Administrator role & Performance Administrator role that gets full access to the org-wide employee diagnostics data and performance data and hence, assigning them an HRBP role becomes redundant.
